Oman bags two World Cups in FIAP Youth Digital Biennial in Italy

Florence: The Sultanate of Oman won for the fifth time consecutively, two World Cups in the 40th FIAP Youth Digital Biennial in the under 16 years-old category and the under 21 years-old category.


Sayyid Said Sultan al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture told Oman News Agency (ONA) that winning the two cups for five years consecutively is a testimony to the skills of Omani photographers and their readiness to bag awards and medals. He added that participation in such international competitions would promote Oman’s customs and traditions.


Winners of individual and group prizes were honored during the event and the winning photos were displayed in a video clip.


Mohammed Sulaiman al Shuaili won the gold medal for his photo titled “Tafkeer” or “Thinking” in the under 21 years-old category. Meanwhile, Mahir Nussair al Khusaibi won the silver medal on his photo titled “Eltiwa” or “Twisting” in the under 16 years-old category. Zamzam Khalfan Bani Orraba won the bronze medal for her photo titled “Talashi” or “Fading”.


Oman gained 457 points to win the World Cup for the under 21 years-old category. Oman also gained 462 points in the under 16 years-old category to win the second world cup.
