MUSCAT: Oman’s women’s futsal team has received an exclusive invitation to train and enhance its skills with Genoa FC in Italy, reflecting the Oman Football Association's (OFA) Board of Directors’ resolve to strengthen partnerships that will advance opportunities for the national team.
The team is currently preparing for the West Asian Championship, and this invitation follows the visit from officials of Genoa FC to the Sultanate last March. During this time, representatives discussed cooperation opportunities across sports and culture, youth exchange programmes, women’s sports development programmes and other sports-related programmes, in coordination with the Omani-Italian Friendship Association and the Embassy of Italy in the Sultanate of Oman. This invitation to host the women’s team camp is an outcome of this visit and the efforts of the OFA to promote the national sports.
The Italian Serie A club will provide training grounds and professional training tools and in addition to organising friendly matches, it will support technical aspects of the women's national team to ensure optimal preparation for the next stage of its development.
The women's futsal team has also received financial support for this training opportunity from Al Mouj Muscat. This reflects Oman’s premier lifestyle destination’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility, especially with regard to developing youth through sports. Sport a key theme for Al Mouj as it continues to contribute to sustainability and a positive social impact in the Sultanate of Oman.
The OFA expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the Omani-Italian Friendship Association for its coordination efforts. Its thanks also go to Federica Favi, Italian Ambassador to Oman, and her team for supporting this opportunity along with other various initiatives in the field of cultural and sports exchange between Oman and Italy.
