Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management has unveiled its strategy and launched the first package of national programmes.

At a press conference held here on Monday, Dr Ali Qassim al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management, said "The academy is under the honorary patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The academy works towards developing and empowering leaders in the public and private sectors in a bid to become a beacon for executive leadership and management".

He pointed out that the academy’s fundamental pillars are based on Oman Vision 2040, developing the state’s institutions in a manner that copes with current requirements and the prospects of the future, grooming leaderships in a new economy and adopting modern learning tools and methods.

Al Lawati added that the Royal Academy of Management is a dynamic hub for executive learning and a centre for developing national leadership, managerial capabilities and future knowledge. The academy's work philosophy stems from an innovative lean model based on portfolio management through independent teams. These teams consist of graduates and professionals from the business community working together with the academy in a flexible structure.

The Royal Academy of Management operates through four independent centres of excellence ensuring a rapid response to changes in the academy’s work priorities, namely the Centre for Government Leaderships, the Centre for Leadership in Business, the Centre for Local Governance and the Centre for Future Studies.

The Royal Academy will also launch a flagship programme “Master’s in Applied Leadership and Management (Digital Economy)” in cooperation with the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University, the world’s premier leadership and management institution. The programme spans twelve months and will be delivered in a form of blended learning. It will offer middle managers in the public sector insights into the latest trends in leadership and management in public and global affairs related to the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) era, public policy analysis and sound governance. The programme will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Academy will focus on local development through the “National Initiative for Local Governance” by adopting best practices in local governance with the aim to stimulate economic growth and local sustainable development. In addition, the Academy will develop a national index for measuring and tracking the quality of services provided by the governorates.

On the sidelines of the press conference, the Royal Academy of Management unveiled its official brand identity with an emblem that symbolizes the convergence of a great legacy and a prosperous future. The brand identity is inspired by the prestigious Royal Tughra.
