The Sultanate of Oman is on the right path to accomplish its ambitious total digitalisation programme under Vision 2040. The future will belong to the smart world, according to IT experts who are visiting the Comex 2022 edition.

Speaking to the 'Observer', Istvan Jakab, Surface Commercial Business, Microsoft MEC and KSA, said Oman looks set to derive more benefits in terms of costs and time, that will ensure all-round returns on investment through a digital transformation programme.

"Digitalisation programme is vital to support the strategic and other crucial sectors in Oman and has an impact on providing the national economy with great returns. The government attaches great importance to the digital transformation programme as it is the requirement of the modern era to facilitate operations and procedures for beneficiaries in all fields'', said Jakab.

"Being at the helm of future technology, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Surface Commercial areas, Microsoft can be a government partner in its continuous development and improvement of administrative functions, services they provide, and facilitating their access to beneficiaries'', he added.

MoHUP participation: The presence of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP) at the Comex can enhance capabilities in digital innovation and support sustainability in the long digital transformation journey, according to IT experts.

The ministry has launched the 'Tatwir' platform to introduce the projects of the comprehensive digital transformation journey to facilitate access to electronic services. The 'Tatwir' platform offers real estate solutions, while other electronic platforms, including 'Choose Your Land, Amlak, Salasa, Geo-Oman', enhance the user experience and capabilities in the field of digital innovation to support sustainability.

Digital bidding was also activated by developing a platform set for land usufruct where individuals can bid through the application and the website. At the same time, institutions will be limited to bidding through the website only at this stage, which provides various services.

The Comex aims to facilitate access to government e-services and user experience, offers effective systems and solutions, brings a change in leadership, builds capabilities to support sustainability and encourages communities to participate in building trust in public institutions. It aims to exchange expertise and experiences between participating entities in the fields of information technology and smart applications, keeping up with the trends and principles of electronic transformation so that initiatives and projects are performed in line with Oman vision 2040.
