

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman on Sunday joined the rest of the world in marking the International Day for Biological Diversity, which falls on May 22.
The event highlights the need to maintain the sustainability of environment conservation efforts in different spheres, with the prime aim of protecting species and habitats and improving the quality of environmental components.
The ceremony held here today, was presided over by HH Sayyid Kamil Fahd al Said, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers.
The event was aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of biological diversity, the solutions needed to address global issues of concern and the celebration of human accomplishments in this field.
