Al Habsi inspires Oman U-17 team players

Muscat: Oman’s sports icon Ali al Habsi delivered an inspiring speech to the Oman national (U-17) football team players during their preparatory camp in Muscat.


During his meeting with the players, Al Habsi highlighted on his successful journey in football as a professional player. He communicated to the players on different stages that he moved during his soccer career as a goalkeeper.


Then, he talked to the players on importance of wearing the national team jersey and delivering top efforts towards representing Oman at the international level. He motivated all the squad members to have their own ambitions and goals in the near future and to work hard to accomplish the desired goals. He ended the conversation on the challenges and difficulties and best practices to overcome with it.


On the other hand, the Sultanate of Oman (U-17) football team concluded late on Tuesday their first domestic camp under supervision of the newly appointed head coach Pablo Herrero Fernandez and his assistant Anwar al Habsi.



It was the first gathering camp for the recently appointed coaching staff. The four days camp focused on enhancing the physical and fitness sides in the players. Also, the Spanish coach and his assistant coach implemented some technical and tactical practices to evaluate the selected player’s performances.


The first assignment for Oman U-17 team will be taking part at the qualifiers of AFC Asian Cup U-17 Championship which will be held earlier in October. The new Spanish coach will aim for different show of the team in the forthcoming appearance at the Asian qualifiers.


Head coach Pablo Herrero Fernandez opted 26 players for the initial short camp and the list included: Qusai Jameel, Fernas al Jabri, Awad al Mashakhi, Helmi al Balushi, Al Harith al Mashakhi, Momen al Soli, Anas al Ghadani, Tamim al Buraiki, Jasim Fakhri, Nibras Nasseb, Emad Faraj, Al Hussain al Balushi, Abdullah al Maqbali, Al Bara al Raqadi, Mohammed al Balushi, Abdullah al Rawahi, Adnan al Mushifri, Taha al Hinai, Ahmed al Saadi, Hamed al Shuraiqi, Ayman al Toobi, Al Haitham al Shukaili, Mohammed al Sameen, Seyaf Mafoudh and Abdullah al Hindasi.
