Muscat: Danial Etor, Said al Dhabouni and Juma Darwees’ goals powered Al Oruba to thumping 3-0 win over Qurayat in the 2021-22 first division league late on Friday. With the win, Al Oruba ensured a top-place finish in Group A with 22 points to grab a promotion to top-tier Omantel League after a two-year gap, next season.

At the Sur Sports Complex, Danial Etor put coach Farooq Abdullah’s men ahead in the 10th minute while Said al Dhabouni doubled the lead in the 25th minute. Former national team player Juma Darweesh confirmed Al Oruba’s promotion to the top-tier league as he netted the third goal in the 40th minute. The hosts kept the scoreline intact in the second half to earn the promotion ticket.

Al Oruba have won the Omantel League shield four times during 2014-2015, 2007-2008, 2001-2002 and 1999-2000. Also, they have won the same number of the titles in the HM Cup.

In another tight fixture, Al Khabourah advanced to the play-off match despite their loss against Al Shabab 2-1. The northern Batinah team was second in the group. Salim al Darmaki and Bashar al Balushi scored for Al Shabab, while Irisa Siga netted the consolation goal for Al Khabourah.

Al Khabourah will meet the 12th placed team in Omantel League to decide the team which will remain in the Omantel League. In another match, Ibri defeated Bausher 3-1 at Ibri Sports Complex. Jan Marsillo put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute but the hosts bounced back strongly as Ahmed al Kharusi scored the hat-trick in the 34th, 45th and 92nd minutes.

Earlier in April, Al Bashayer club had booked their direct promotion to Omantel League as a first team in the first division league from Group B.
