With seven more rounds to go, Seeb and Al Nahda continued their neck-and-neck run for the top position as both teams managed to post crucial wins in the 19th week of the 2021-22 OmanteL league.

The triumphs brightened both clubs' contention for the title with 41 points.

Seeb thumped Oman club 3-0 on Wednesday night at the Seeb Stadium, while the Al Buraimi representative team edged Bahla 1-0 on Tuesday at Nizwa Sports Complex. However, Seeb managed to keep their top spot with a better goal difference compared to Al Nahda.

Salalah giants Dhofar were held to a goalless draw by Al Musannah on Tuesday at Al Saada Stadium. The result put them in third position in the league table with 39 points. Rasheed Jaber’s men will meet Saham in the next round on Sunday with only three points their target for a shot at the title.

Besides the Dhofar and Al Musannah fixture, two more matches in the 19th round ended in a draw. Al Rustaq and Nizwa played a goalless draw at Al Rustaq Sports Complex, while Sohar and Al Ittihad ended their match with the same result.

Al SUWAIQ EDGE MUSCAT

Al Suwaiq returned to winning ways as they snatched a 1-0 win over Muscat at Al Rustaq Sports Complex with a goal scored by Omar al Fazari. The win put the Northern Batinah team in eighth place with 24 points. Al Nasr increased Saham’s troubles as they defeated them 3-1 at the former’s home at Al Saada Stadium. Al Nasr are fourth with 33 points while Saham are at the bottom with nine points only.

Al Rustaq continued their dry run as they were held to a goalless draw by Nizwa this week. Al Rustaq are sixth with 30 points. In the previous rounds, they suffered a 2-1 loss against Muscat and a 1-0 defeat against Dhofar.

Nizwa, Al Ittihad, Bahla and Saham are in danger of relegation. With 21 points at stake, these four teams will be fighting hard to survive from relegation and remain among the top-tier teams.

Saham will take on Dhofar in the next round in a very tough game for the hosts at the Al Rustaq Sports Complex on Sunday. Dhofar will aim to reduce the gap from the leaders while Saham will try to clear from relegation.

Bahla will be in another tough assignment as they will meet Sohar at the latter’s home at Sohar Sports Complex on the same day. Al Ittihad will host league leaders Seeb at Al Saada Stadium in another difficult clash while Nizwa will face Al Suwaiq at their home in Nizwa Sports Complex.
