OFA to get $350,000 grant for AFC Cup

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will provide a grant of $350,000 for the Oman Football Association (OFA) for hosting the AFC Cup scheduled for May 18.


Seeb Stadium, home ground of Seeb club, will host the first round group matches which include Seeb, Al Ansar from Lebanon, Jableh (Syria) and Kuwait SC.


In the coming days, a delegation from the Asian Football Confederation is expected to arrive in Oman to review the readiness of Seeb to host Group A matches, which will be held at Seeb Stadium.


Seeb Club is continuing its preparations to host the first group matches, the administrative and technical aspects have been completed through coordination and follow-up by the Oman Football Association. Working committees will be formed that will be in charge of organising the qualifier matches.


In addition, Seeb are awaiting a new participation in the Arab Clubs Championship, the details will be announced by the Arab Football Association in the coming days. Thirty-eight elite clubs from the Arab world will compete for the Arab Cup.


On the other hand, the Competitions Committee of the Oman Football Association is currently looking for other alternative options for the next season in the international calendar, and these options will be alternatives to continue the league non-stop.


One of the most prominent options is to raise the number of foreigners in the squad of each team to 5 players of any nationality, in addition to one Asian player, making it 6 foreign players in the team. At present it is 4 players, with 3 of any nationality and one Asian player. It will be implemented in the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup season 2023-24.
