Investments garnered through the Investment Residency Visa programme launched with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) amounted to over RO 106 million to date, according to Asila bint Salim al Samsamiyah, Under-Secretary for Investment Promotion.

Speaking at the media forum on Monday, she noted that a total of 270 investor residence cards have so far been issued to investors of a number of nationalities.

According to Sajda bint Rashid al Ghaithiyah, Director of the Communication and Information Department, use of the Invest Easy portal for various transactions surged 185 per cent in 2021 compared with figures for 2020.

The "Invest in Oman" platform, which showcases information on new investment opportunities, has continued to perform a commendable role, she said. Information on a total of 72 investment opportunities can be viewed on this platform, she noted.

Further, with a view to enhance the overall functionality and appeal of the Invest Easy portal, the ministry plans to enable the facility to handle a wider variety of commercial transactions in the different governorates of the country.

For the first time, the electronic contract documentation service feature offered via the Invest Easy portal will enable the seller and buyer in a transaction to sign contracts electronically from wherever they are based. The facility comes with a comprehensive guide that explains the procedures, links them with detailed steps and explains the applicable fees.

As many as 184 services offered by the different departments of the ministry can now be accessed via the Invest Easy portal.
