Over 10k wild seedlings cultivated in North Al Sharqiyah

Muscat: As part of the national initiative to plant 10 million wild trees in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, the Environment Department in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate completed the cultivation of 10,497 wild seedlings during the first quarter of 2022.


The initiative to plant 10 million trees comes within the framework of boosting protection from the effects of climate change in addition to biodiversity at the level of the fertile environment in many natural habitats and various micro-animals that live in such cultivated environments in the Sultanate of Oman.


The initiative aims to shed light on the importance of carbon yield and achieving added value from the Omani wild trees and plants and benefiting from the recycled wastewater.


The chairman of the Environment Authority said that everyone is a partner in protecting the environment and preserving the sustainability system, stressing that the national initiative to plant 10 million trees aims to achieve a set of programmes, foremost of which is combating desertification, increasing the green area and absorbing carbon dioxide.
