Competitions continue in Sultan's Cup camel racing

The competitions continued for Royal Camel Corps camel racing organised by the Oman Camel Racing Federation in Barka track on on Tuesday.


The races started in early morning for 'Legaya' category, three years old, for 4 km in nine rounds, six rounds for female 'Bkar' and three rounds for male 'Gedan'. Winners got cars in last four main rounds and cash prizes for other five rounds.


The race started with four rounds with cars as prizes. Amer bin Salim al Amri snatched the first car by 'Mashkorah', the second car was won by 'Remas' owned by Hilal bin Abdullah al Shidi, in the third round 'Aryam' owned by Sultan bin Guthai al Gfeali won the car, the fourth car was claimed by 'Shoalah' for Abdullah bin Godyer al Wahaibi.


In the cash prizes round, fifth round was topped by 'Mahaba' owned by Humaid bin Hamed al Amri, in the sixth round it was 'Alfares' owned by Ali bin Salim al Wahaibi, Hamed bin Said al Hajri claimed the seventh round by 'Elag' and Saud bin Ali al jabri by 'Alshahenya' bagged the eighth round honours. The ninth and last round was won by Essa bin Salim al Wahibi through 'Shahin'.


Amer bin Salim Al Amri, the winner of the car in the first round said. "Thanks to God, this is the beginning with a good achievement, today the camel was in full health which was not present the case in most of the races."


"We will participate on Thursday, conclusion day (Cups day) and we hope to achieve the Cup in the first round, this is my target for this season," Amer al Amri added.
