Muscat: UGB Barka’s revered superstars failed to dazzle on the 'D-Day' as Royal Stars Barka deservingly walked away with the inaugural Barka Champions League title after a thumping 102-run win in the final.
The game exposed multiple frailties in a team led by Rehmat Ali at Al Nasr Sports stadium in Wadi Mawel on Friday.
After winning the toss & opting to bat here, Royal Stars Barka batting lineup put up a competitive total of 162 runs in 16 overs, losing only five wickets.
Shripathi Acharya was the top performer for the side as he scored an impressive 59* runs including eight huge sixes & one four. He was ably supported by Ramees (34) & Nikesha (30*) for Royal Stars. Hafiz Rana from UGB’s side was the pickup bowler with two wickets, giving away 28 runs in his four overs.
Looking to chase down the mammoth target of 163, the UGB’s side faced a complete collapse as they could only muster 60 runs in 13.1 overs.
Abrar Ahmed of UGB top scored with 15 runs for his side whereas all other batters faced difficulties to survive on the wicket & were outplayed magnificently by Royal Stars bowling attack.
Shripathi Acharya and Ashok were the pick of the bowlers claiming two wickets. Shripathi Acharya was adjudged the Man-of-the-final for his brilliant all round performance.
