Muscat, March 23
Al Kamil W'al Wafi club lifted the title of 2021-22 Oman volleyball first division league which concluded late on Wednesday at the main indoor hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Southern Al Sharqiyah team representatives managed to defeat Seeb 3-2 in a thrilling concluding game.
The concluding match was attended by good turnout of fans from both team under organisation of Oman Volleyball Association (OVA). Oman club won the third/fourth play-off as they beat Masirah club 3-1.
In the final, Al Kamil W'al Wafi claimed the first set 25-23 while Seeb players managed to return back to the match as they won the second set by 25-20. In the third set, Al Kamil W'al Wafi ended the set with 10 points difference at 25-15. Seeb again bounced back strongly in the fourth set to claim it 25-20. In the deciding set, Al Kamil W'al Wafi benefited from Seeb players mistakes to win it 15-13 and clinch the championship.
At the end of the match, chief guest Tahir bin Salim bin Abdullah al Amri, Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), delivered the awards for the top three teams.
The concluding ceremony was attended by Basil bin Ahmed al Rowas, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth and Ibrahim al Mahdawi, Chairman of Oman Volleyball Association, besides officials and invitees.
Individual awards: Best libero: Salim Walad Ahmed (Al Kamil W'al Wafi). Best setter Mohammed al Maqbali (Al Kamil W'al Wafi). Best player in position (No 2): Waleed al Badi (Masirah). Best player in position (No 4): Younis al Amri (Seeb). most valuable player: Hilal al Maqbali (Al Kamil W'al Wafi).
