105 riders take part in Al Rayyan show jumping

BARKA: The Al Rayyan Showjumping Stables Championship, organised by Al Rayyan Stables, owned by Shaikh Khalid bin Saeed al Wahaibi, was launched under the supervision of the Oman Equestrian Federation at Al Rahba farm in Barka on Sunday.


As many as 105 horses participated, distributed in eight categories for the first day.


Future Knights 1 with a height of 60-70 cm, Future Knights 2 with a height of 90-100 cm, a women’s category at a height of 100-105 cm, a beginner’s category with 90-95 cm height and a category (E) with hurdles of 100-105 cm, category (D), hurdles height 110-115 cm, category (C) height 120-125 cm and category (B) height 130-135 cm, where jockeys and horses of government cavalry units and private stables competed.


In Future Knights 1, height of 60-70 cm, 11 horses participated, rider Abdullah bin Ahmed al Hoqani on ’Zainard’ from the Al Hoqani Stables won the first place, Mohammed bin Majid al Hadhrami on ‘Pasha’ from the Arab Stables was second and Anas bin Walid al Wahaibi on ‘Hajis’ from the Al Amarat Stables finished third.


In Future Knights 2, with height of 90-100 cm, nine horses participated. Al Baraa al Harthy on ‘Amani’ from Al Seeb Equestrian School claimed the top spot, Warith bin Tamim al Mahrouqi on ‘Fam’ from the Olympic Equestrian Centre was second and Mohammed bin Ahmed al Abri on ’Faidal’ from the Mojo Equestrian Centre was third.


In women’s category for a height of 100-105 cm, 12 horses participated. Amna bint Nasser al Sharjiyah grabbed the top place on ‘Royal’ (Mojo Equestrian Centre), Barbara on ‘Kasir’ from Al Said Stables was second and Al Yaqin bint Taher al Kindiyah on ‘Futur’ from Al Rayyan Stables finished third.


In beginners’ category (hurdles height 90-95 cm), Asaad bin Humaid al Hadi of Royal Oman Police on ‘Hayam’ bagged the first place out of 19 participants, Issa al Subhi on ‘Hamran’ from Royal Guard of Oman was second and ROP's Barakat bin Muhanna al Hadi on ‘Haya’ finished third.


In Category E, (100-105 cm), 26 horses competed, ROP's Bassam bin Nasser al Ghabshi won the first place on ‘Rabeh’, and RGO riders Jamal bin Humaid al Sharyani on ‘Twfan claimed second spot and Saeed bin Humaid al Shukaili on ‘Alabab’ finished third.


In Category D, (110-115 cm), Haider bin Anwar al Rashed over ‘Qwaidam’ from the Arabian Stables finished on top among 14 riders. Madin bin Saeed al Yousifi on ‘Wadood’ from Royal Cavalry was second and Jamal bin Humaid al Sharyani on ‘Any Jain’ from RGO was third.


In Category C (120-125 cm), nine riders competed. Olympic Equestrian Centre rider Hamoud bin Sultan al Touqi snatched the first place on ‘Filo’. Khalid bin Darwish al Subhi on ‘Charming Girl’ from Al Rayyan Stables was second and Mohammed bin Salim al Hadhrami on ‘Thekryat’ of the Royal Cavalry finished third.


In Category B (130-135 cm) five horses were in action. ‘Talboot’ led by Hamoud bin Sultan al Touqi claimed the top spot, Ahmed Mohammed Al Shahat on ‘Chanel’ from the Mojo Equestrian Centre was second and Sultan al Touqi on ‘Hangover’ from the Olympic Equestrian Centre finished third.
