Olympic Equestrian Centre emerge top in show jumping

Showjumping competitions organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation concluded for the season 2021/2022 at the Olympic Field at Al Rahba track in Barka on Thursday.


More than 100 horses from government cavalry and private stables took part in the competitions.


Competitions were divided in six categories, first for new riders and new horses in 60-70cm height, second the beginners’ category, in 90-95 cm height, the third and category (E) in 100-105 cm height and the fourth category (E), in 110-115 cm height. The fifth category (C), was for 120-125 cm height and the sixth and last category (B) for 130-135 height.


The event was presided over by Sayyid Munther bin Saif bin Hamad al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF), in the presence of Ahmed bin Saif Al Abri, OEF Secretary and Chairman of the Competitions Committee.


Competition results


In the first category for new riders and new horses in 60-70cm height, Tariq al Barwani won the first place on ‘Sultana’ from the Olympic Equestrian Centre out of 23 riders.


In the second the beginners’ category, in 90-95 cm height, the first place was won by the jockey Asaad Al Hadi on ‘Hiam’ from the Royal Oman Police out of 27 riders.


In the third and category (E), in 100-105 cm height, Muhammad bin Hammoud al Touqi on ‘Esimi’ from the Olympic Equestrian Center came first out of 28 riders.


In the fourth category (E), in 110-115 cm height, Sheikh Khalid bin Saeed al Wahaibi achieved first place on ‘Christs’ from Al Rayyan Stables out of 14 riders.


In the fifth category (C), in 120-125 cm height, Hamoud bin Sultan al Touqi claimed the honours on ‘Philo’ from the Olympic Equestrian Center out of eight riders.


In the sixth category (B) for 130-135 height, Sultan bin Hamoud al Touqi was on top on the Hangover from the Olympic Equestrian Center out of five riders.


The OEF chairman presented the trophies and awards for the riders who emerged on top positions in in various categories.
