MUSCAT: The Office of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in the Sultanate of Oman lauded the efforts of Oman in taking effective measures to reflect the importance of groundwater in devising policies of sustainable development through various projects.

This was stated on the occasion of the World Water Day, which falls on March 22 each year. This year’s celebration is themed “Groundwater – Making the Invisible Visible”.

The FAO Office in Oman added that the project of building a resilient environment and sustainable agriculture and water resources in Oman is one of its kind in the country. It added that groundwater constitutes an essential element in ensuring that the ecosystem functions properly. -- ONA
