Oman participates in 66th session on Status of Women Commission

New York: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, is taking part in the 66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, being held at the UN Headquarters in New York and lasts till March 25, 2022.


The Sultanate of Oman's delegation in headed by Dr Laila Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.


Dr Laila gave a speech during which she highlighted the vital and prominent role of the Omani women in the national development march and her major social role in bringing up generations and instilling values of tolerance.


The 66th session discusses women's empowerment and participation in decision making within the context of policies pertaining to climate change, environment and disaster reduction.


On the sidelines of the session's deliberations, Dr Laila al Najjar met with several heads of delegations. She also took part in a meeting at the ministerial-level for the participating delegations of Arab countries.


Oman's participation in the session embodies the distinguished experience of Oman in consolidating the role and status of women in the society.
