

MUSCAT: The 5x5 basketball tournament organised by Grand Global Investment at Oman Club entered the second round at the weekend. The tournament was launched under 'Evaluate Yourself' initiative in cooperation with the Filipino community.
Chief organiser Ali al Alawi, CEO of Grand Global Investment, expressed satisfaction over the tournament's progress.
"We will bring out more exciting basketball action for the fans, the community and the sponsors who support and enjoy good basketball competition. We will work in cooperation with the Oman Basketball Association in this regard," Ali said.
On Thursday, In the first match, Lots Cafe beat Jebel Sifah 86-49. Mateo Singko netted 22 points to become the best player of the game. In the second match, Sagpo edged out Kabayan Cargo 66-63. Ryan Janda scored 19 points to emerge best player.
On Friday, Mediacom prevailed over Excellence 69-64 points. Jason Cortez top-scored with 22 points. Winning Octal beat SNB 69-64 in the next match. Rommel Alarcon was best player with 30 points. Lastly, Barangay Ginebra defeated LSB comprehensively with a 24-point lead at 98-74. Anthony Espiritu top-scored with 20 points.
On Saturday, Mustafa Sultan Exchange dominated Jebel Allied Logistics to win the first match 105-52. Jobert Maraya of MSE was selected as the best player. Travel Buddies Holidays came good against Al Khoud Warriors 98-93 in the second match. Robert Millena of Travel Buddies Holidays with 22 points became the best player.
