Muscat: The Oman Squash Committee (OSC) recently appointed Iran's Mohsin Gholamnejad Javid as head of technical staff of the national squash team.

Javid signed an agreement with the OSC and has taken charge of Oman’s squash team. This move is expected to enable good progress for squash in the Sultanate of Oman.

The selection of the Iranian head coach came after revision series of curriculum vitaes. OSC had requested from West Asian Squash Federation, Arab Squash Federation and Asian Squash Federation to nominate best coaches for this position. More than 20 coaches had sent applications for the post.

Previously, Jawad was the head coach of Bangladesh squash national team since 2021. He also worked as head coach of Iran national junior team during 2017 to 2020.

Javid is certified coach and holder of level 3 world squash coaching certificate. He had completed national level 1,2,3 coaching courses and national 1,2 and 3 refereeing courses.

With the appointment, the OSC aims to define the players of squash in the Sultanate of Oman. Also, to determine the locations of the squash centres in Oman and to begin a technical programme to select potential men and women squash players for the national team.

Javid started his first internal trip to Dhofar governorate accompanied by Eng Taher Taghlib al Barwani, board member of OSC and head of technical committee. The visit to Salalah will feature meeting with the players. Also on agenda will be discussion with the squash centers owners to support squash events in Oman. Moreover, the OSC delegation will meet the Culture, Sports and Youth Directorate representative for future cooperation.
