ROP impress in horse literature contest at Al Rahba

MUSCAT: Royal Oman Police (ROP) riders impressed at the third horse literature competition for the season 2021-22 organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF) at the Al Rahba race track in Barka on Sunday.


OEF Secretary-General Ahmed bin Saif al Abri, who is the chairman of the OEF Competitions Committee, was the chief guest for the concluding ceremony. The competition witnessed the participation of 32 horses from various government cavalry units and private stables.


The competition included four categories, the first is the open category with the participation of 4 horses, the second is the new category for youth with the participation of 11 horses, the third is the girls’ category, under 16 years of age with 10 horses, and the fourth is the medium category with the participation of 7 horses.


In the open category, ROP took the top two slots with Bassam bin Nasser al Ghabshi taking the first place on ‘Alabab’ and Salah bin Khalfan al Balushi on ‘Amwaj’ claiming the second spot. Jamal bin Humaid al Sharyani on ‘Dares’ from the Royal Guard of Oman finished third.

Eleven rider took part in the new category for youth and ROP swept the top three podium.


Rashid bin Amer al Mashaikhi won the first place on ‘Furat’, Musa al Ramadani on ‘Alandalus’ was second, while Rashid bin Amer al Mashaikhi on ‘Jinan’ finished third.


In female section for under-16, 10 horses were in action. ROP’s Fatima al Shanawiya bagged the top honours on ‘Emtethal’, Tariq bin Ziyad al Balushi on ‘Shakerah’ from Seeb Equestrian School was second, Mohammed al Balushi on ‘Espirit’ from Seeb Equestrian School finished third.


Seven horses competed in the middle category and ROP dominated the top three slots.


Abdul Malik bin Abdullah al Maawali on ‘Almutahed’ claimed the top honours, Edris al Ameri on ‘Haleam’ was second and Bassam bin Nasser al Ghabshi on ‘Ragheb’ finished third.
