Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival launched

‘Hagayeh' category races opened the Al-Bashayer Festival for 4 km

Muscat: The fifth edition of the Annual Al-Bashayer Camel Racing Festival was launched at the Al Bashayer Camel Race Field in Adam, on Monday.


In the morning they started the races with young ‘Hagayeh’ two years old category for 4 km, (cash prize for the top ten) which saw participation in all runs from Oman and GCC countries. The competition was strong with large number of participants in each half, that reached 77 camels in some halfs.


The morning races in the first half was won by ‘Barotah’ for Algafayag al Malki out of 38 participants. In the second half, it was ‘Alshahenyah’ for Mohamed Al Saeadi out of 41 participants and in the third half ‘Al hather’ for Salim Al Wahaibi out of 29 participants. In the fourth half was ‘Aldhabi’ for Ebrahim Al Darei out of 44 participants and in the fifth was ‘Wadoah’ for Faleh Al Shamsi from UAE out of 47 participants and in the sixth half was ‘Jbaar’ for Hamed Al Hedawi which got the best timing 6:6:96 out of 41 camels.


In the seventh half ‘ Daree’ for Bader Al Jaenabi was the winner out of 56 participants and in the eighth half was ‘Muteeb’ for Rashed Al Malki.


In nine half was ‘ Shahenyah’ for Ali Al Balushi out of 71 participants and in tenth half was ‘Hamlool’ for Zaher Al Methameni out of 44.


In the 11th half was ‘Gazwah’ for Ali Al Mushaqri out of 69 and in the 12th half was ‘Murdef’ for Salim Al Durei out of 47.



In the 13th half was ‘Altyarah’ for Ali Al Wahaibi out of 77 and in 14th half was ‘Shahean’ for Hamed Al Hedawi out of 59. In the 15th half was ‘Mazah’ for Humaed Al Amri out of 58 and in the last half was ‘Nasi’ for Muhamed al Wahibi out of 37 participants.


The afternoon competitions were strongly to win the car which is for first places for all eight runs.


The first car was won by ‘Khayal’ for Royal Camel Corps under coach Mansur Al Heafi out of 40 participants. ‘Hilal Al Jenabi won the second car by ‘Rahi’ out of 31 camels and ‘Mayasa’ for Ali Al Wahibi won the third car out of 40 camels. The fourth car’s winner was ‘Fanad’ for Saead Al Wahibi out of 45 camels and in the fifth half was ‘Ashqar’ for Ali Al Darei out of 57 participants.


In the sixth half it was ‘Amgad’ for Hamood Al Muhabi out of 67 camels and the seventh car was managed by ‘Samreah’ for Amer al-Wahaibi. In the eighth half the car was managed by ‘Nesnas’ for Hamad al Darei.


The competition continues today (Tuesday), as it allocates for young category ‘Laqaya’, 3 years old for 5km, where there will be 15 races with cash prizes for the top ten in the morning. Also there are five races with SUV cars for same category in the afternoon.
