The general assembly members of Arab Table Tennis Union re-elected Abdullah Mohammed Bamakhalif as vice chairman of Arab Table Tennis Union for the next term (2022-2026). Bamakhaif was the vice chairman for the previous term during (2017-2022). Qatar’s Khalil Al Mohannad was re-elected as chairman of Arab Table Tennis Union.

The election of the new term for Arab Table Tennis Union board took place on Saturday in Marrakesh city in Morocco. Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) was represented at the meeting by Abdullah Bamakhalif. The Arab Table Tennis Union, formed in 1956, featured members from two continents including Asia and Africa.

The Asian members are: Oman, Bahrain, Iraq Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen while members from Africa are: Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia.

The selection of Bamakhalif for this position reflects his accumulative sporting experience in the field. He was elected as board member of the ITTF, world TT governing body, last November in Houston city, USA during the ITTF World Table Tennis Championship.

Beside that, the OTTA chief elected also for the ATTU board member post in last October in Doha city as apart of the Asian Table Tennis Championship in Qatar.

Under chairmanship of Bamakhif, OTTA had managed to host many mega Table Tennis events starting from hosting the Arab Championship in 2017 in Muscat and then hosting many top-class TT events including ITTF challenge plus and then WTT events during the few years ago. OTTA will host the 2023 World Veteran Championship in Muscat.
