MUSCAT: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) bagged two titles in the Ministry’s Shield Championship for tent-pegging, organised by Oman Equestrian Federation.


The championship concluded at Al Rahba race track in Barka on Wednesday.


ROP claimed the women's title and Al Lejam bagged the cities honours in the two-day championship sponsored by Ahmed bin Saif al Abri, Secretary General of the Oman Equestrian Federation.


A total of 17 teams, consisting of 66 male and female riders from government cavalry units, private centres in the cities, Al Namir Equestrian School in Saham, Al Mudhaibi Horse Racing Committee and the Leem Equestrian Team in Al Suwaiq, participated in the championship.


The Royal Army of Oman, clinched the teams and individual titles through Mohammed bin Khamis al Siyabi.


Al Lejam team won the cities title for both teams and singles through Ali bin Saleh al Balushi.


Meanwhile, Royal Oman Police achieved the women's title through Ghanima bint Abdullah al Shukaili.


The concluding competition included six rounds for teams and singles. The first and second rounds were for tent-pegging by spear for the teams, the third and fourth rounds were for tent-pegging by sword for the teams, and the fifth and sixth rounds were for tent-pegging with the spear and the sword for the relay teams.


Teams category results for units


The Royal Army of Oman won first place in the teams category and was represented by Muhammad bin Khamis al Siyabi, Yasser bin Barout al Hasani, Hisham bin Ali al Bakri and Zaid bin Hamoud al Saidi.


The Royal Cavalry Team (2) consisting Salem bin Mohammed al Jabri, Omar bin Saeed al Hasani, Salem bin Saeed al Manouri and Ahmed bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi claimed the second spot.


The Leem Center team from Al Suwaiq consisting Ali bin Saleh al Balushi, Hamid bin Saeed al Manouri, Bassam bin Khalil al Balushi and Nasser bin Saif al Hashimi shared the third place with the Royal Cavalry Team (1), represented by Hamad bin Nasser al Riyami, Hamad Bin Saif Al-Raisi, the contestant Safwan Bin Zaid Al-Maamari, Saif Bin Hamoud Al-Ashkari.



Individual results for units


for the individual results, it witnessed a strong and interesting competition, where Muhammad bin Khamis Al Siyabi from the Oman Armored Division achieved the first place, the second place the contestant Ali bin Hamoud Al-Rajbi from the Royal Guard of Oman, the third place Ali bin Saleh Al Balushi from the Leem Center team, and the third place, duplicated, Salem bin Mohammed Al Jabri of the Royal Cavalry.


Cities team results


The Leem Equestrian Center team won the first place, represented by Ali bin Saleh Al Balushi, Humaid bin Saeed Al Manouri, Bassam bin Khalil Al Balushi and Nasser bin Saif Al Hashemi. Leem Center team won the second place through Amjad Iqbal, Suleiman bin Abdullah al Balushi, Anas bin Ali al Balushi and Jamal bin Uhud al Raisi. On the third place was the Nameer Equestrian School team represented by Saud bin Fadel al Maqbali, Qais bin Rashid al Shafei, Abdullah bin Khaled al Ma'ini and Namir bin Mohammed al Shidi.


Cities individual results


In the individual cities section, Ali bin Saleh al Balushi of Al Leem Equestrian Team took first place, Nasser bin Saif al Hashemi of Al Leem Equestrian Team finished second and Sami bin Ali al Hadadi of Al Mudhaibi Horse Racing Committee claimed third.


Individual results for ladies


A group of female riders competed at the individual level among themselves. Ghanima bint Abdullah al Shukaili of ROP took the first place. In second place was Sahar bint Mubarak al Kulaibiya of ROP, while Turkiah bint Mahmoud al Balushi from the Royal Army of Oman finished third.
