Cairo: The Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit affirmed on Thursday the importance of Libyans agreeing on a comprehensive political process that leads to national elections.

In a statement, Abul Gheit expressed his concerns with recent development.

He added that Libyan leaders on the political front should always be aware of the country’s best interest above any other considerations.

Those leaders should lead Libyans to agree on a comprehensive political process.

This, Abul Gheit stressed, will allow the end of the long-standing transitional phase in the country to reach stability and development.

Abul Gheit reiterated the Arab League’s position which is based on supporting any sincere effort that would achieve the required Libyan consensus.
