SAF shooting competition concludes

Muscat: The Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) 33rd light weapons shooting competition concluded under the auspices of Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin al Shuraiqi, Inspector-General of Police and Customs, at Ghala Shooting Fields, on Wednesday.


Teams representing SAF Chief of Staff, the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Engineering Services of the Ministry of Defence, Royal Court Affairs, and the Royal Oman Police (ROP) took part in the competition, as well as girls’ teams from SAF, ROP, and Royal Court Affairs.


The competition aims to maintain the efficiency of using light weapons for officers, non-commissioned officers and personnel, in addition to selecting qualified shooters to join the military and national shooting teams that represent the Sultanate of Oman in regional and international shooting events.


At the end of the shooting competitions, the Inspector-General of Police and Customs, Chief Guest, handed over the Tournament Shield to the ROP team who grabbed first place after collecting the highest number of points in competitions.


The Royal Army of Oman came in second place, while the Royal Guard of Oman came in third place. He also handed over cups, medals and prizes to the winning teams and individuals in various competitions.
