Muscat: The Maritime Security Center (MSC) received a report from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of a distress call by the Commercial Vessel "FOX", carrying the flag of Togo.

The vessel requested to stop at the ships waiting area in the port of Salalah as sea water started leaking into the hull of the ship, which could cause it to sink.

Accordingly, MSC contacted Salalah Port Administration to coordinate with the relevant authorities to take necessary action.

The Coast Guard Police boats, in coordination with MSC, were able to transport the 21 ship crew to the port of Salalah, as all of them are in good health.

MSC continues to follow up on developments with the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), the Coast Guard Police, Salalah Port Administration, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Environment Authority to take the necessary measures to avoid marine pollution and secure maritime traffic. --ONA
