Sultanate of Oman sees big jump in hotel guests, revenues

Muscat - The Sultanate saw a big jump in the number of hotel guests in 3 to 5-star hotels until the end of November 2021 was 1,079,847, compared to 767,234 guests (an increase 40.7 percent) during the same period in 2020.


The Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) said that hotel revenues until the end of last November were estimated to be RO83, 476,000, an increase of 6.7 percent from RO78, 249,000 during the same period in 2020. The occupancy rate went up by 41.7 percent during the same period in 2020.


Statistics showed that Omanis constituted the largest proportion of the guests (79.2 percent or 756,662), compared to 422,310 in November 2020, followed by Asian guests (124,674, compared to 64,853 in November 2020, an increase of 92 percent), European guests 69,036, non-Gulf Arab countries (42,495) and Gulf guests (27,984). The number of guests from the US was 18,460, Oceania 6,861, Africa 3,934, and from other countries 29,741.
