The country's total number of Covid-19 testing reached 571,472 since the first virus case was reported in the Sultanate of Oman on February 24, 2020. According to the MoH statistics, Sultanate of Oman recorded 308,262 cases till Tuesday, comprising 215,081 men and 93,180 females.
The total recovery reached 301,083, while 4,119 deaths occurred due to coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has sounded caution, saying overall risk related to Omicron remains very high for a number of reasons.
"First, the global risk of Covid-19 remains very high overall. Secondly, current data indicate that Omicron has a significant growth advantage over Delta, leading to rapid spread in the community. The rapid increase in cases will lead to an increase in hospitalisations, may pose overwhelming demands on healthcare systems and lead to significant morbidity, particularly in vulnerable populations," a regional press statement from the WHO said.
