Al Suwaiq stun Seeb; Al Rustaq edge Al Musannah

Muscat: Al Suwaiq eked out three crucial points as they defeated Seeb 3-0 at Seeb Stadium on Tuesday in the 10th week of the 2021/2022 Omantel League.


Former national team player Ahmed Mubarak 'Kanu', Essam al Subhi and Omar al Fazari netted the winning goals for Al Suwaiq. The victory helped the Al Batinah team to climb up the table with 12 points, while Seeb stayed at 21 points.


Seeb were affected with top players moving to aboard clubs including Al Mundher al Alawi to Al Bahrain’s Al Khalidiya team while Salalah al Yahyaei went to Qatar’s club. Al Suwaiq have another match play in the round as their match against Muscat club was postponed last week.


Al HADABI NETS WINNER


Khalid al Hadabi’s goal powered Al Rustaq to victory against Al Musannah, who suffered their second successive defeat. At Al Rustaq sports Complex, the only goal in the match for Al Rustaq was netted by Al Hadabi and helped Al Rustaq to earn their second win in a row after the previous win last week against Al Suwaiq.


Al Rustaq have now 17 points and are inch closer to the top-four teams. Their neighbours and Southern Batinah team Al Musannah remained at 16 points. Al Musannah, coached by Hassan al Saadi, suffered their second defeat from Al Rustaq after the defeat in the HM cup.


At the Suhar Sports Complex, Sohar bounced back from their 6-0 loss against Salalah giants Dhofar in the previous round with a top show against Muscat. The Northern Batinah team beat Muscat club 3-1 and all the goals came in the second half.


Ahero Romanroof made the intentions clear with a 51st minute goal for the hosts. Abdo Lai increased the margin to two goals in the 60th minute while Saud al Maqbali confirmed the triumph with third goal five minutes later. The consolation goal for the guests came through Basim al Owaisi.


In another fixture, Al Nahda edged Nizwa 1-0 at Al Buraimi Sports Complex. Fahad al Hajri scored the winner for the hosts.
