The park was set up as per the Royal orders of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur.

The park is built on a space of 120,000 square metres and includes several facilities and amenities, such as four open theatres. Two of the theatres have a capacity of 500 people each, which makes them suitable to hold events.

The park also contains shaded nurseries on a space of 800 square metres.
