MUSCAT: The government of the Sultanate of Oman, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, exerted efforts to provide employment for jobseekers in the public and private sectors.

Employment was made through the direct announcement of job vacancies, the replacement of non-Omanis, the employment-linked training programme and the on-the-job training programme.

The initiatives provided employment for as many as 40,594 jobseekers until mid-December 2021. Among these, employment procedures for 5,910 are under way.

The government also exerted efforts to secure more than 45,708 private sector workers against being laid off or exposed to mass termination of services or reduction of salaries. The efforts included negotiation with the employers, who were urged to keep the services of the employees or transfer them to other sections to benefit from their services there.
