MUSCAT: The latest weather analysis by the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre indicates that the Sultanate of Oman is affected by a trough of low pressure, which is expected to last to the middle of next week.

The weather is expected to be cloudy over the Governorates of Musandam and North Al Batinah with chances of rain ranging from 50 to 100 mm with occasional thundershowers accompanied by fresh winds. Rains may lead to flash floods and overflow of wadis.

Cloud advection is expected over the Governorates of South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Buraimi, Al Dahirah, Al Dakhliya, South Al Sharqiya and North Al Sharqiya, with rains ranging from 10 to 30 mm.

Sea state will be moderate along the coasts of Oman with maximum wave height of 2.0 meters. Sea state can become rough during thundershowers along the coastal areas of the Governorate of Musandam and Oman Sea, with a maximum wave height of 3.0 meters.

The Civil Aviation Authority advises everyone to exercise caution during rains and the overflow of wadis. All should check the sea state report before sailing and observe updated forecasts, said the CAA.
