MUSCAT: Darsait Titans and Khuwair Warriors emerged victorious on the opening day of Oman Cricket’s colourful D20 Cricket League that kicked off on Wednesday at Amerat’s lush green ground one.


The inaugural T20 competition, being covered live on Fancode, Sky247 and Sports Eye, presents players in Oman a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talent to a global audience and grow in stature.


Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood and Ravindra K’ratne were the stars of Titan’s 47-run win over Azaiba.


Ravindra struck an elegant 58 whereas Maqsood contributed a fluent 35 in Titans’ total of 152 for 5. Khawar Ali and Khurram Khan chipped in with useful 24 each. Jasim Ilahi and Imran Muhammed picked up two wickets each.


Azaiba failed to make a match of it, limping to a disappointing 105 for 9 in 20 overs. Hammad Mirza and Haythim Bahar were the only notable scorers with 26 and 23 respectively. Sachin kumar bowled well, taking 3 for 17 while Yagnik Ashwin and Zeeshan Maqsood bagged two wickets each.


Brief scores: Darsait Titans 152 for 5 in 20 overs (Ravindra K’ratne 58 – 6x4, 2x1, Zeeshan Maqsood 35 – 3x4, 1x6, Khawar Ali 24 – 4x4, Khurram Khan 24 – 3x4, 1x6. Jasim Ilahi 2-25, Imran Muhammed 2-30) thrashed Azaiba XI 105 for 9 in 20 overs (Hammad Mirza 26 – 3x4, 1x6, Haythim Bahar 23 – 1x4, 1x6. Sachin Kumar 3-17, Yagnik Ashwin 2-17, Zeeshan Maqsood 2-19) by 47 runs.


Siddiqui powers Khuwair to victory


Earlier, in the day’s opening game, seasoned cricketer Zeeshan Siddiqui steered Khuwair Warriors to an exciting 6-wicket victory against Amerat Royal.


Amerat batted poorly and was dismissed for 129 in 18.1 overs despite a ruthless 44 off only 14, including 6 huge sixes. Arjun Dhiman and Muzahir Raza did the bulk of the damage, taking three wickets each.


Opening the innings, Zeeshan Siddiqui led the chase with a superb 58, laying the foundation for a comfortable win. Amir Kaleem batted well too, scoring 26 that included a big six. Mehran Khan took 2 for 23.


Brief scores: Amerat Royals 129 all out in 18.1 overs (Rafi Ullah 44 – 1x4, 6x6, Sankata Prasad 29 – 2x4, 1x6. Arjun Dhiman 3-20, Muzahir Raza 3-38) lost to Khuwair Warriors 133 for 4 in 18.1 overs (Zeeshan Siddiqui 57 – 8x4, 2x6, Amir Kaleem 26 – 2x4, 1x6. Mehran Khan 2-35) by 6 wickets.
