

MUSCAT: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) marked the Armed Forces Day which falls on December 11 every year, under the auspices of Gen Said bin Ali al Hilali, Head of Internal Security Service, on Sunday.
The celebration, held at the shooting fields of the Sultan’s Armed Forces Training Regiment, began with a military salute to the chief guest, and then the RAO music band played the Royal Anthem. The chief guest and the attendees watched samples of military training, shows and various field skills which displayed the efficiency and skills of the affiliates of RAO. This was followed by equestrian and tent pegging shows staged by the Sultan of Oman Armour Cavalry and a free fall show by the Free Fall Team of the Sultanate of Oman Parachutes (SOP).
The RAO music band performed military music followed by a parade of advanced military equipment used by RAO for protecting the nation and preserving its achievements.
The head of the Internal Security Service conferred medals of long and excellent services and good conduct on a number of RAO affiliates in recognition of their efforts in performing national duties.
The event was attended by commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other military and security units, senior officers of SAF and the other military and security bodies, senior retired officers, officials at government authorities, shaikhs and dignitaries of Muscat Governorate, officers, commissioned officers and personnel of RAO.
