Oman will chase a win as they will take on Tunisia in the quarterfinal of the 2021 Fifa Arab Cup at the Educational city Stadium in Doha on Friday. The match will start at 7:00 pm (Oman time).

Branko Ivankovic's heroes are all set for the crucial game as the team showed solid performance during the group round. Oman finished second in group A with four points.

The national team began the campaign in the group games with a 1-1 draw against Iraq before falling down 2-1 from the hosts Qatar. Then, Red Warriors bounced back strongly as they defeated Bahrain 3-0 in the concluding group game. Tunisia led the group by six points after beating Mauritania and UAE. The team suffered a 2-0 loss from Syria in the opening game.

Oman’s spectators and domestic football lovers are eyeing the triumph. A win will move Oman to the semifinals and will create the history from Oman’s first participation at the Arab championships.

Tunisia is the top Arabian football team and ranked as 29th in the Fifa world football ranking while Oman is in the 78th position. Pressing hard from beginning of the fixture, balancing on all the three lines and taking an advantage and converting the scoring attempts into goals are significant factors to register the triumph in today’s tough assignment.

Branko is confident!

The Croatian coach Branko Ivankovic voiced confidence that the team will deliver a top performance in Tunisia’s encounter. “We are very proud and satisfied with team’s performance in the previous round in the championship. The team managed to qualify to the next round. It is a great opportunity for players to obtain good experience from taking a tough encounter against Tunisia. The opponent have international players plus intensive technical experience,” he said.

The 67-year-old added in the press meet on Thursday that the team played three tough fixtures within seven days. “Some players got injured beside Amjad al Harthy’s absence due to two yellow cards in the previous games. However, we are confident and trust that the team players will produce high performance in the game,” he ended

Oman’s defender Juma al Habsi affirmed in the press conference that team’s target is to clinch the title of the championship.” We are not focusing only in the forthcoming match against Tunisia but the objective is to clinch the event’s trophy.
