SQU holds graduation ceremony

MUSCAT: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Chairperson of SQU Council, presided over the graduation ceremony of the 31st of students of the Sultan Qaboos University, at the open air theatre, on Monday.


Sayyid Dr Fahad bin Al Julanda al Said, Vice-chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), delivered a speech at the graduation ceremony in which he said that the Sultan Qaboos University, since its foundation by late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said has been a prospective project for the future of the Sultanate of Oman and has adopted an ambitious vision to meet the demand for competent and qualified cadres.


The SQU vice-chancellor said: “Today we see the graduates of SQU assuming leadership positions in various fields and many of them are among the pillars of the renewed renaissance overseen by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and are leading the many institutions and also involved in the implementation of Oman Vision 2040.”


The 31st batch comprises 2,969 graduates of bachelor’s, diploma, master’s and doctoral degrees.


A total of 1,498 students graduated on Monday from the colleges of Arts and Social Sciences, Economy and Political Sciences and engineering. — ONA
