NIZWA: The General Directorate of Education in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, represented by the Scouts and Guides Department, celebrated the 38th anniversary of the inauguration of late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos as the Greatest Scout of the Sultanate of Oman.

The ceremony proclaimed the ideals of love, giving and loyalty, inculcated in the members of the Scouts and Guides movement. It was also an occasion for celebrating the progress of the movement and the concerted efforts of its members to achieve goals under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by scout Al Molhem bin Said al Tobi from the Mohammed bin Masoud Scout band.

Speaking on the occasion, Saif al Julandani, Director General, said: "I am pleased to extend to you my best wishes and congratulations as we celebrate together the 38th anniversary of the inauguration of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos -- may his soul rest in peace -- as a great scout of the Sultanate of Oman. That is the most valued occasion in the history of the Omani scouting and guiding movement, and the most prominent historical scouting event on the international scene.

"Since the Omani Renaissance, the youth have received generous patronage from His Majesty. The Scouts and Guides movement in the country received a great deal of support, which helped it achieve a prominent position among its counterparts in the Arab and international scout associations. We were all inspired by him in work and giving. It also made its presence felt in various fields at the Arab and international levels. This movement consolidates educational values and demonstrates the pioneering role in serving and developing society and instilling good citizenship among our student scouts and guides,” Al Julandani added.

"As we celebrate this anniversary along with the celebrations of the 51st glorious National Day, in the name of all the members of the Scouts and Guides movement, we renew the promise and loyalty to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. We are determined to contribute and participate in advancing comprehensive development and consolidating the principles of loyalty and obedience -- an affirmation of the role of human resources in achieving the vision of the Omani Renaissance.”

A visual on "Oman's Renewed Renaissance" was presented, in which Dr Azzan bin Khalfan al Hasani and Dhawi bin Salim Awlad Thani, and Dr Taiba bint Mohammad al Mahrouqi and Dr Huda bint Saud al Abri participated.
