OHI Oman Amateur Opens return for the eleventh year


Muscat: The Oman Golf Association and OHI are delighted to announce the welcome return of the OHI Oman Amateur Opens. One of Oman’s premier golf championships, now in its 11th year, the event continues to drive tournament golf in the Sultanate. With the championship attracting top amateur golfers in Oman, including many of the Oman National Team, it is sure to be a well contested event.

OHI Group have generously renewed their title sponsorship for a fifth year which sees the OHI Oman Amateur Open, OHI Ladies Open, OHI Juniors Open, OHI Oman Under 15s Open and OHI Under 12s Open played simultaneously on the 26th and 27th November 2021 at Ghala Golf Club in Muscat.

Having taken a one-year hiatus in 2020 due to the restrictions on hosting events during the pandemic, Oman Golf Association and OHI Group are confident that the 2021 edition will be well received, with every precaution being taken to ensure the safety of the competitors, and organising staff.

Speaking on this announcement, Mundhir Al Barwani –Chairman of Oman Golf Association, said “After a very difficult last year of no tournaments and events due to COVID-19, we are delighted to continue with OHI as our partners and title sponsors of the Amateur Opens. We truly appreciate their continued support and belief in the future of golf even during these challenging times.”

Eihab Al Saleh, CEO – OHI Group, the title sponsor of the event, said “We are immensely proud to sponsor Oman’s leading Amateur golf Tournament for the 5th year. Golf in Oman is at a very exciting stage and OHI Group is committed to help grow the game in Oman and promoting junior golf for which there are separate categories. Golf is such a unique and accessible sport, with golfers aged from 7 to over 70 coming together to play the game.” The OHI Oman Amateur Opens are unique as they not only offer the elite golfers an opportunity to compete but have created a platform for the juniors to excel and learn to compete from a young age.”
