

MUSCAT: Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, has issued a ministerial decision forming the board of directors of Oman History Association.
The association has Hon Sayyid Nooh Mohammed Al Busiaidy as its Chairman and the following as members: Dr Ibrahim Yahya Al Busaidy, Contemporary History Professor at Sultan Qaboos University (Deputy Chairman), Dr Badria Mohammed Al Nabhani, History Subject Supervisor at the Ministry of Education, Dr Ahlam Hamoud Al Jahwari, Assistant Director of the Research and Studies Department, National Records and Archives Authority, and Ali Hamoud Al Mahrouqi, Managing Editor, Omani Studies Magazine.
The decision identifies the specialisations of the board of directors, stating that the association specialises in disseminating knowledge about Omani heritage, history and civilisation, besides contributing to the protection and documentation of Omani heritage.
The association will organise lectures and related activities and participates in conferences, specialized forums and other events, according to the decision, which also states that the association will communicate with local and international scholarly and intellectual institutions.
It is worth noting that Oman History Association, established way back in 1975, enjoys the patronage of His Majesty the Sultan.
Since its inception, the association laid down the pillars of specialized studies in the field of history and heritage, which gave strong impetus to a variety of initiatives in the field. - ONA
