Five months ago, when the Sultanate of Oman launched the highly successful national vaccination campaign, the sprawling Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC) was picked as the venue for the massive exercise.

The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 will be transferred from the OCEC to new venues listed by the Ministry of Health from Sunday.

The campaign will cover both Omanis and expatriates and appointments can be made on Tarassud Plus or https://covid19.moh.gov.om.

“The Directorate-General of Health Services of the Governorate of Muscat has moved its Covid-19 Vaccination services out of the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre to its other locations from Sunday 7,” Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) said in a statement.

The venues include Al Khuwair North Health Centre, Ruwi Health Centre, Muscat Health Centre, Al Amerat Health Centre, Al Sahel Health Centre (Qurayat) and Hai Al-Jami Health Centre (Seeb) for Omanis and Muttrah Sabla (8 am to 2 pm ), Medical Fitness Centre (Al Sharadi - Seeb) 8 am to 2 pm for expats.

With all kinds of business and cultural events suspended in the country as part of the efforts to curb, hosting of the national immunisation drive came in June as a short in the arm of the OCEC.

“With multiple entry-exit points and unlimited parking slots, OCEC played a key role in the successful completion of the campaign in a short period, which also helped the country to fight the Covid pandemic that took 4,112 lives and fully locked down the country for months as part of precautionary measures,” a volunteer associated with the campaign at the OCEC told the Observer.

Over 75 per cent of the population has been fully vaccinated in the country to date. “The Directorate General of Health Services for Muscat Governorate extended its thanks and gratitude to the management of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre for their contribution to the success of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19. We also take the opportunity to extend our thanks and appreciation to all volunteer teams and volunteer individuals,” the statement from the Ministry of Health said.
