Mazoon Dairy Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Naftah Renewable Energy Company to develop solar panels to power cooling units for Mazoon distribution trucks. This will reduce the amount of fuel consumption during sales and distribution operations.
The memorandum, which is the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, was signed by Ahmed bin Mohammed al Ghafri, Chief Support Officer, on behalf of Mazoon Dairy Company, and by Abdullah bin Nasser al Saidi, CEO of Naftah Renewable Energy.
Al Ghafri stated “This initiative is one of the success stories to be told with pride. Such initiatives allow small- and medium-sized companies to expand and develop, in addition to building a strong technical reputation in the market,” stressing that Mazoon Dairy is the leading dairy company in the Sultanate of Oman.
“Such initiatives that are concerned with research and development with local small and medium companies will be always at the forefront of the company’s priorities and commitments,” he asserted.
Abdulaziz bin Abdul Ghani al Zadjali, Logistics Director at Mazoon Dairy Company, explained that this system will improve fuel efficiency in Mazoon’s fleet and increase lifespan and efficiency of the cooling units as well as the vehicle’s engine. The cooperation with Naftah Renewable Energy Company will enable Mazoon to study and constantly improve the system’s efficiency and reliability. He added that 170 trucks will benefit from this technology.
Mazin bin Hilal al Saadi, HSSE Manager at Mazoon Dairy Company, explained that this project is part of the company’s campaign to reduce environmental impact by developing renewable, innovative, reliable and sustainable technologies. He explained that this technology will reduce carbon dioxide emissions. “We expect fuel consumption to be reduced by 20-30 per cent,” he said, adding that this project is one of the results of circular economy initiatives as Mazoon Dairy is the first company to adopt this approach and has formed a specialised team to achieve these goals.
