MUSCAT: Continuing to transform the country’s payments landscape, National Bank of Oman (NBO) has launched its new Merchant App. An easy solution for businesses moving away from cash, the app allows merchants to receive payments simply by scanning a QR Code on the customer’s mobile phone or by requesting payment from their customer. As the first such service in the Sultanate, it is part of NBO’s efforts to empower businesses and promote nationwide digitalisation, a key objective of the Oman 2040 Vision.

“At NBO, we always aim to bring the most innovative and technologically advanced products and services to the market. Our new Merchant App falls in line with the government’s requirement for Micro Businesses commercial outlets to switch to electronic channels as part of its cashless payment scheme. Easy to use and with no set-up fee, no monthly rental, it frees up more time for businesses to focus on their growth,” said Tariq Atiq, Chief Retail and Digital Banking Officer at NBO.

A bank of firsts since inception, NBO invests heavily in digital innovations including the constantly-enhanced mobile app, the pay+ mobile wallet, and its prepaid card Badeel, which, for the first time in the Sultanate, is available to both NBO and non-NBO customers.

Meanwhile, it continues to build on its portfolio of user-friendly solutions and make the banking experience seamless, inclusive, and altogether more enjoyable.
