87 % of target group jabbed against Covid-19

The Sultanate of Oman vaccinated 87 per cent of the target group to combat the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.


According to figures released by the Ministry of Health, the total number of vaccinated people whether with one or two doses reached 3,071,161 of whom 94 per cent include Omanis.


The ministry released the figures following a report that one million people are yet to be vaccinated in the Sultanate.


As a clarification to the report, the ministry said, “The number of people vaccinated in the Sultanate of Oman has reached a high rate. The ministry monitored what was announced by a local radio about the presence of one million people who did not receive the vaccine.”


The number of vaccinated with two doses reached 2,673,961, of whom 87 per cent are nationals.


At the same time, the Ministry of Health is expected to announce the target segments who are to be administered a third dose of Covid-19 vaccine.


The Supreme Committee at the weekend endorsed that a target group comprising the vulnerable segments in the society could be given a third dose of Covid-19 vaccine.The Supreme Committee also approved the vaccination of children aged 5 to 12 years with effect from the first week of November 2021.
