Oman National Rally championship begin today

MUSCAT: After a long break due to the lockdown imposed by Corona pandemic, the Oman Automobile Association (OAA) is kick-starting its events in right earnest with the competitive Oman National Rally Championship 2021-22 on Thursday and Friday.


The round one of the Oman National Rally Championship will be held at the Misfah-Saal tracks on Friday.


The event will be held according to the rules and regulations of the International Federation of Motor Sport (FIA).


Technical checks and final scrutineering will be done at the OAA premises on Thursday.


Brigadier (retd) Salim Ali Khalifa al Maskari, Chairman of Oman Automobile Association, said this is a welcome return to sports activities after the difficult period due to the Covid-19.


“The OAA is very happy to return to its sports activities after a long break due to the pandemic. We wish all the participants of the rally best of luck and thank them for their commitment to the sport.”


The OAA chairman said all the Covid-19 related medical protocols issued by the government and health authorities will be followed during the sports events organized by the OAA.


“We will strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocols issued by the government and the health authorities. The OAA will fully cooperate with the health authorities in this regard,” Al Maskari said.


Cars participating in the rally will be classified into RC2, RGT, RC3, RC4 and RC5.
