Muscat: The Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Health on Thursday signed a cooperation programme that seeks to provide training for Omani holders of graduate and undergraduate qualifications so that they could replace expatriates in nursing and paramedical professions.
This year, the programme seeks to provide employment for 900 job-seekers, among them 610 already appointed, 134 undergoing appointment procedures and 156 to be appointed later after joining an employment-linked training programme.
The year-long programme (renewable) enables the Labour Ministry to fund monthly training grants in nursing and paramedical jobs segments. In turn, the Health Ministry will supervise the implementation of the programme from a technical point of view.
The Ministry of Health will follow up the assessment of trainees and share its findings with the Ministry of Labour. The Health Ministry will ensure the execution of the programme within a fixed timeframe.
The cooperation programme was signed by Sayyid Salim Musallam al Busaidi, Labour Ministry’s Undersecretary for Human Resources Development, and Dr Fatma Mohammed al Ajmi, Health Ministry’s Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs. --ONA
