Muscat: Shaheen that made its way across Oman Sea toward North Al Batinah as a cyclone category 1 churning clouds to Muscat and South Sharqiya while moving to its destination has left a death toll of 11.

According to officials at National Committee for Emergency Management, three death cases due to the torrential rain were reported in Muscat Governorate and one in South Al Batinah on Sunday. On Monday as Shaheen was downgraded to a tropical depression, Oman recorded seven more deaths due to the impact of the tropical system.

While numerous rescue operations have been conducted successfully, the total death toll, as of Monday afternoon stands at 11.
