In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Occidental Oman representatives recently attended the launch event for the 3D Printing Educational Program and competition, under the brand name Awtad, which the company has exclusively sponsored. Awtad aims to introduce teachers and 10th grade students to 3D printing technology, in order to develop their skills in the field. The program is organized by InnoTech, an Omani SME in the 3D printing and technology field.

The launch event was held at the Ministry of Education, with the attendance of Majid bin Said al Bahri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Stephen Kelly, President and General Manager at Occidental Oman, along with senior representatives of the company.

As part of the academic year, Awtad will feature a series of workshops to engage students in North Al Sharqiya governorate, and teachers from across the country, in a practical environment to learn how to create 3D printed designed products and objects. Awtad aims to create high level awareness of 3D printing across schools in the Sultanate, as well as its uses and benefits.

The workshops will cover topics such as 3D design fields, 3D design software, 3D design solutions, group projects, and printing projects via 3D printers. The course will run from October to November 2021, ending with a 3D Printing Competition for participants.

“We are excited to sponsor the 3D Printing Program Awtad, as Occidental Oman continues to support programs which advance innovation and educational excellence,” said Mr. Kelly. “We are eager to see the utilization of 3D printing in schools, such that they transform ideas into real-life projects that will positively impact our local communities in Oman.”

This sponsorship is part of Occidental Oman’s endeavor and long-term commitment to support programs that enhance knowledge and creativity, and encourage innovation and excellence.
