Oman to compete at 2021 ITTF-ATTU Asian TT

Oman senior TT team will take part at the 2021 ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Championships which will take place in Doha from Tuesday to October 5.


The paddlers who will represent the Sultanate team in the Asian event including Asaad al Raisi, Muhannad al Balushi and Haitham al Mandhari.


The national team representatives arrived in Doha on Sunday and resumed their training sessions.


Oman’s TT paddler Asaad and his team-mates began the preparation for the Asian event through a domestic camp which was held in Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex during last weeks.


The selection of the Sultanate TT players were based on the players results in the last regional, continental and international championships.


Oman’s international referees will attend the Asian event to officiate fixtures in different competitions. The umpires list include Mohammed al Alawi, Al Julanda al Mawali, Hisham al Sibani and Ahmed al Abrawi. The Sultanate’s umpiring representative managed to attend in different regional and international meets in the past few years.


The 2021 ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Championships will act as a new additional experience for them and it is expected the umpires will officiate top fixtures in top Asian event.


OTTA Chairman Abdullah Bamukhalef affirmed that the association is keen to take part in different continental and international championships.


“These events are very crucial for the players to gain the required experience and exposure. We wish good luck for the national team players who will compete against the Asian opponents and to register top results,” he said.


OTTA officials will take part in the Asian Congress which will be held on October 3 including OTTA Chairman Abdullah Bamakhalif, Vice-Chairman Sajad Baqir and Secretary General Adil al Balushi.


The Asian Congress will feature election for the new term. Oman’s TT chairman will be competing for the board member post while Vice-Chairman for treasurer position.
