755 kg of precious metals hallmarked in H1

MUSCAT, Sept 18


The combined weight of precious metals that were hallmarked to assure their authenticity totaled 755.110 kilos during the first half of this year, up from 214.334 kilos during the corresponding period of last year.


The stamped merchandise included gold bullion, gold, silver and platinum artifacts, according to the Directorate General of Standards and Metrology (DGSM) , at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP).


Also hallmarked during this period were quantities of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals, ordinary metals covered with a shell of precious metals, natural or artificial pearl products, traditional ornaments and coins.
